Answering all your burning questions

We constantly receive a wave of enquiries about Morpheus8 treatment since we introduced it to Cardiff Cosmetic Clinic in 2019. Your questions haven’t gone unnoticed, and after curating a list of the most frequently asked, we’re thrilled to offer you an exclusive look into the treatment through the eyes of those closely involved with it. Join us for a chat with Dr. Raj, a seasoned medical doctor and our renowned aesthetic specialist at Cardiff Cosmetic Clinic, and Kenza, an insightful representative from InMode – the visionary company that spearheaded the development of this innovative skin-transforming technology. In this blog, we’re asking them everything you want to know about Morpheus8. Let’s get this Q&A session rolling!

  1. What is Morpheus8?

Dr. Raj begins by addressing the most frequently asked question: Simply, what is Morpheus8?

“Morpheus8 is an innovative non-surgical skin-tightening and skin rejuvenation treatment for ageing or damaged skin. It combines microneedling with radiofrequency technology to stimulate the production of natural proteins, collagen, and elastin. These proteins are clinically proven to tighten sagging skin (like jowls) and smooth away wrinkles and fine lines. After just a few sessions, you can expect smooth, healthy, and refreshed skin that radiates a natural glow from the inside out.”

  1. How does Morpheus8 work?

Dr. Raj explains: “Morpheus8 uses silicone-coated titanium needles to penetrate the skin while advanced radiofrequency technology provides controlled heating. This powerful blend of microneedling and heat energy is specifically designed to reach the deeper layers of the dermis to achieve impressive results in skin-tightening and skin rejuvenation. It’s one of the most powerful combinations for revitalising ageing skin, making Morpheus8 the leading non-surgical aesthetic treatment.”

  1. What are the benefits of Morpheus8?

“Morpheus8 excels in addressing concerns on any part of the body with the most common areas being the face, neck, abdomen, and thighs,” says Dr. Raj.

“It’s suitable for all skin types and delivers long-lasting, outstanding results with minimal downtime and speedy outcomes, from tightening sagging skin and ironing away wrinkles and fine lines to improving skin texture, easing hyperpigmentation, and diminishing scarring.

Dr. Raj highlights another key benefit, stating, “Morpheus8 microneedling boasts a programmable depth that spans from 0.5 up to 7 mm, allowing for a more tailored approach to skincare.”

  1. Is Morpheus8 painful?

Dr. Raj cautions that Morpheus8 treatment is not a completely pain-free experience and the level of discomfort or pain experienced can vary from person to person. However, he explains that the procedure is generally designed to be tolerable for most individuals.

“To help minimise any potential discomfort, your therapist will apply topical anaesthetic to the treatment area. And since individuals have different pain thresholds, we can tailor the treatments to your sensitivity by adjusting the depth and intensity of the treatment. Remember that deeper treatments may be associated with slightly more discomfort.”

  1. Is Morpheus8 safe?

“Morpheus8 is a safe treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced professional. It has been cleared by regulatory authorities for use in dermatological and general procedures that require ablation, coagulation, and resurfacing of soft tissue. However, as with any medical procedure, there are considerations and potential risks,” says Dr. Raj.

“It’s essential to choose a reputable and experienced aesthetics professional or licensed practitioner to perform Morpheus8 treatments. This ensures that the procedure is conducted safely and effectively to avoid the possibility of infection or other complications.”

He adds that not all individuals may be suitable candidates for Morpheus8 treatment.

“Pregnant women, individuals with certain medical conditions, or those with a history of certain skin conditions may not be eligible for the treatment.”

Turning to side effects, Dr. Raj explains that while these are generally mild and temporary, they may include redness, bruising, swelling, or discomfort similar to a sunburn.

“These effects are generally temporary and subside over a few days after the procedure.”

  1. What not to do after Morpheus8 treatment?

As with any skin-penetrating procedure, Dr. Raj advises that you need to follow proper post-treatment care to ensure you heal quickly, see results faster, and avoid rare complications like an infection or hyperpigmentation/hypopigmentation.

“Your aesthetics team will advise you on a post-care treatment for your unique skin. However, these are the general instructions you need to follow for at least 48 hours after your Morpheus8 treatment

“Avoid excessive and direct sun exposure, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with high SPF on the treated area (30 or higher), and refrain from activities that may cause excessive sweating, like saunas or exercising. Heat can exacerbate post-treatment redness and swelling.”

  1. How soon can you exercise after Morpheus8?

Dr Raj breaks it down: “After Morpheus8 treatments, it’s generally recommended to avoid vigorous exercise or strenuous physical activity for at least a few days. The exact duration may vary based on the intensity of the treatment and individual healing responses. Here are some general guidelines:

“In the first 24-48 hours, the treated area begins to heal, but it can only do so without excessive stress. That’s why we advise resting and avoiding intense physical activity during the first day or two.

“You can slowly reintroduce light physical activity after 48 hours. However, it’s still recommended to avoid intense exercise or activities that may cause excessive sweating, as this can potentially irritate the treated skin.

“Around one week after the treatment, you can resume your normal exercise routine. But make sure you listen to your body and avoid pushing yourself too hard.”

Dr. Raj adds that you must carefully follow the tailored post-treatment instructions provided by your Aesthetics Doctor..

“Individual recommendations may vary and factors such as the intensity of the treatment, your skin’s response, and any additional instructions from your provider will influence the timeline for resuming exercise.”

Morpheus8: Early beginnings, cutting-edge advancements, awards

Now, let’s turn to Kenza to find out more about the treatment’s early beginnings, cutting-edge advancements, and notable awards.

  1. Have there been improvements to Morpheus8 since its launch in 2019?

Over the past five years since Morpheus8 has undergone major improvements.

“It was initially introduced with a 24-pin attachment. Although this remains the most popular to date, it’s now joined by resurfacing tips to address skin texture and acne scars, and an attachment named Prime, which is designed to safely and effectively target smaller, more focused areas, especially around the periorbital region.”

  1. Tell us more about why Morpheus8 was developed

“InMode identified a gap in the market, recognising the need for a non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment specifically designed to address skin laxity, particularly in the lower face and neck.

“This gave rise to Morpheus8, however, most people are unaware that it evolved from InMode’s Fractora, a highly effective radiofrequency and microneedling treatment for active acne, acne scars, stretch marks, skin discolouration, and skin laxity. “

  1. What awards has Morpheus8 won?

“Morpheus8’s impressive list of accolades includes prestigious awards from Glamour, Shape, Elle, Myfacemybody, Good Housekeeping, and NewBeauty.

“Notably, in 2023, it clinched the title of Best Microneedling Treatment for Body in NewBeauty’s 13th Annual Beauty Awards.”

She adds: “It’s truly rare to come across an aesthetic treatment that consistently secures awards year after year, but Morpheus8 effortlessly achieves this.”

  1. Combine treatments with Morpheus8 to maximise results.

Combining Morpheus8 with Profhilo, Polynucleotides, Neogen, or AnteAGE MD yields a powerhouse solution for rejuvenating skin with exceptional benefits. Morpheus8’s advanced microneedling technology penetrates deep into the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving overall texture.

  • When paired with Profhilo, known for its hydrating properties and ability to boost skin elasticity, the result is intensified hydration and firmness.
  • Polynucleotides, with their regenerative properties, work synergistically to repair damaged skin cells and enhance the skin’s natural healing process.
  • Neogen, renowned for its skin-brightening effects, adds a radiant glow to the complexion.
  • AnteAGE MD, rich in growth factors, promotes cellular regeneration for long-lasting youthful skin. Together, this comprehensive combination offers transformative results, addressing multiple skin concerns to achieve a radiant, rejuvenated complexion.

Dr. Raj says: “Combining Morpheus8 with the revolutionary Polynucleotides makes this the ultimate combination, describing this duo as a true game-changer in my practice”.

  1. What’s the feedback from practitioners and patients over the years?

“The buzz around Morpheus8 has been nothing short of fantastic! Since its UK debut, we’ve been thrilled with the positive feedback.

“Patients have been experiencing results that are, quite frankly, game-changers. The kind of results that make you do a double-take in the mirror and think, “Wow, is that me?” And here’s the best part – these results aren’t just good; they’re unmatched because InMode boasts patented technology and designs, setting Morpheus8 treatment apart from the rest.

“From the practitioners’ side, our secret to success is a mix of expert clinical training and our commitment to education through workshops and regular training sessions.”
